stockholm smorgåsbord

the flight from nyc was uneventful and this is ALWAYS what i wish for on an airplane. it was LONG but not as long as flying to europe from san francisco which is VERY LONG.

humans have been trying to manage, tame, understand and master time for ages but the best we've been able to do is to put it in a box marked with 12 numbers. of course, something funny happens to time on an airplane but nobody is laughing.

pelting rain on the wing in Stockholm

the first thing i noticed about Stockholm was three different kinds of chairs AT THE AIRPORT that i would be proud to have in my home - good design, gorgeous fabric, amazing color.

green leather swivelers!

triple connected orange lozenges!

textured wool mustard armless!

in addition, i found some faucets embedded in marble, some crazy paisleys, a red public phone box and a tablecloth used as a light fixture. all these things warm my design-y heart.

sink fixtures

iron door grille

pay telephone!

overhead light fixture fashioned from tablecloth

  2. I keep thinking that if I look at enough of your photos I'll develop a talent for finding cool things to take pictures of.

i share your belief. not that looking at MY photos will necessarily do this for you but i do know that SEEING is a cultivation. the fact that things exist does not mean that we all SEE them. PERCEPTION is such a kick - that you and i could look at exactly the same object and see different things amazes me. but that's because perception not just SEEING but also FILTERING. any contemporary experience must filter through the entire catalogue of our personal histories. hence, we SEE the same object or experience the same event vastly differently. (thanks for stopping by to look)

    1. FREE-FLOWING EVIDENCE - ha! that will be the name of my next entry!
i am an improvisational detective: sound, color, texture, shape. elemental cacophonies in this northern world of late night light...

  5. I like the pictures, the authorial commentary, the viewer comments and the authorial commentary on the viewer comments. I like that kallt is spelled with two ll's and I like that you can land in a foreign land and know what the words on the sink mean. I like the dark green chairs especially. I always love you photos of raindrops.
